After Wild Card Loss to 49ers, Eagles Target Mike McDaniel & Brian Daboll for Offensive Coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a devastating Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers. After an abysmal season full of offensive inconsistency, they finally let go of Kevin Patullo.

The question is, who’s next at the helm?

Sunday’s loss showed everyone that Philadelphia just wasn’t prepared to go back-to-back. The playbook was clearly limited all season, and San Francisco took full advantage.

Costly penalties and a missed extra point by Jake Elliott didn’t help the situation either. The Eagles constantly and consistently shot themselves in the foot like this all year.

Chemistry wasn’t a positive either, with A.J. Brown and head coach Nick Sirianni getting in each other’s faces. Brown didn’t help the situation by having three crucial drops. It makes you wonder if he will stick around next season.

On paper, Philadelphia had the best team in football. When it mattered on the field, they were not. Kyle Shanahan and Robert Saleh purely outcoached Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo.

As a result, Philadelphia is on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator who will supposedly have complete control of the offense.

Names like Brian Daboll and Mike McDaniel are at the top of the list for the birds, and they both have their perks.

There’s familiarity with Daboll, as he was the offensive coordinator for the Alabama team Jalen Hurts played for. Hurts has had a different offensive coordinator every year of his career, so this would bring some stability.

Mike McDaniel is one of the most sought-after people in the NFL right now, as he helped an explosive Miami Dolphins offense over the last few seasons.

With Philadelphia’s dangerous offensive weapons, McDaniel could open up a lot of opportunities for another championship.

The Eagles have a lot of work to do in the offseason to achieve their championship aspirations, including determining which players will stay and which will go. But the number one priority is a new offensive coordinator.
