Here’s Why The Philadelphia Eagles Are Set Up To Repeat This Season
Throughout the off-season, teams made many moves to climb up the ladder in their divisions and conferences. As a new NFL season arises, one team remains practically the same. The Philadelphia Eagles are coming in hot as the 2024 Super Bowl champs and look to repeat. Led by their Super Bowl MVP quarterback, Jalen Hurts, and 2024 AP Offensive Player of the Year, Saquon Barkley, anything short of a Super Bowl ring for the Eagles will be a failure.
Coming off a sweet victory in the biggest game of football had the Eagles on cloud nine, especially for Jalen Hurts winning his first-ever Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP award. Despite the success, that didn’t stop the media from criticizing Hurts for his play through the regular season and playoffs.
The word is that Hurts has elite help with Barkley, 3-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown, and an offensive line that covers. He entirely relies on his strong supporting cast. Hurts has something to prove this season. His athletic abilities should never be questioned, but can Hurts turn the tables and actually lead the team yet again to the promised land?
However, 2024 was a fantastic year for the Eagles. This team was a top 10 offense with 6,242 total yards, with 3,048 of them coming from the run. Adding a special player like Saquon Barkley in the 2024 off-season was just the acquisition that was required for an Eagles playoff push. What Barkley has brought to the city has been nothing but astonishing, and his level of play will continue this season.
The pieces are in play for the Eagles to be in the same place next season, playing in Super Bowl 60. Barkley signed a two-year contract extension worth up to $41.2 million, which made him the highest-paid running back in the NFL. With the kind of season Saquon had in 2024 alone, that guarantees the Eagles at least an NFC Conference game appearance.
Not only was the focus on re-signing Barkley, veteran RT Lane Johnson, and LB Zach Baun, but adding depth throughout the roster has also intensified the hopes of repeating for the city of Philadelphia.
Most recently, Eagles GM Howie Roseman has been on a roll getting players in and out. Trading for Sam Howell, John Metchie, and Fred Johnson were the right pieces that were needed to proceed into the 2025 season.
The Eagles have a massive game ahead of them in Week 1 as their conference rival, the Dallas Cowboys, comes to the city of Brotherly Love to witness the ring ceremony of the Eagles this Thursday at 8:20 pm EST. The Eagles will feed off their crowd and push for a win here, 24-10.
Losing a superstar like Micah Parsons will hit hard for the Dallas faithful. Parsons was unexpectedly traded to the Green Bay Packers on August 28, 2025, leaving the entire football world stunned. There’s no way the Cowboy defense will be the same after trading away the edge rusher. It’s on 3-time Pro Bowler Dak Prescott to save the day for the Cowboys; however, it will not be enough. Expect Barkley to have a field day in Lincoln Financial Field with at least 150 rushing yards.
