The Morning After: Why the Micah Parsons Trade Still Sucks for Cowboys Fans

In a move I swore would never happen, the Cowboys actually traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. I can’t believe I’m even writing this. Parsons was the guy on this roster who gave you hope, the game wrecker who made Dallas feel like a contender. Now he is gone.

Green Bay wasted no time locking him up. He agreed to a four-year deal worth $188 million with $136 million guaranteed, averaging $47 million annually. That makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Honestly, I don’t even care what Dallas got back in return. Nothing makes up for losing the heart and soul of the defense.

So now the Cowboys’ edge is in the hands of Donovan Ezeiruaku, a rookie who might develop but is suddenly being thrown into a spotlight he isn’t ready for. That is not fair to him and it is not fair to the fans. Parsons should have been the cornerstone, the guy you build around for the next decade. Instead management decided to play accountant and rip the foundation out from under the team.

It just keeps getting harder to root for this franchise. Every time they dangle hope, they rip it away. Watching Parsons suit up in green and gold while Dallas spins in place is going to sting for a long time.
