NFL Week 1: 2 Keys for Kickoff Game Against the Eagles
Football is Back!
The Cowboys are headed to Philadelphia to take on the Reigning Super Bowl Champion Eagles in the NFL’s Kickoff game for the 2025-26 season. The game will be played tonight (September 4th) at 8:30 PM.
Post-Micah Parsons trade, lots of fans think this game is a lost cause. Not having such a game-wrecker on your side as the underdog is pretty worrisome, but there are two factors that I’ve had bouncing around my head.
Keys to the Game
Trevon Diggs
The former All-Pro is officially cleared to play in Week 1 vs. the Eagles, which in Diggs’ career he has had 5 of his career 20 interceptions against (Statmuse). The Ball Hawk is looking to bounce back after he has been dealing with knee issues since tearing his ACL in a September practice two seasons ago. Diggs went from being a ball hawk that had ten picks in a year to a complete shutdown CB in the two seasons leading up to the injury, but through so many complications, Diggs has yet to be the same player since.
Historically, new DC Matt Eberflus has been known to leave his defensive backs in 1-on-1 matchups, meaning the corners need to play lights out with so much on their shoulders. Without Parsons, the game plan could shift, but we will see tonight. If you follow Diggs on social media, you know he can’t wait to get back out there.
Let Dak play Superman
Serious Cowboys fans know that Dak Prescott is the reason we have seen any watchable football in the last few seasons, and he has carried us in a lot of games. If you watched the team in 2020, or honestly, in the second half of last season, you know that Dak is the entire support for the team.
Dak has supposedly slimmed down this offseason in an attempt to get his body back into a more athletic build, which I’m hoping is an attempt to reincorporate his scrambling playstyle from his days at Mississippi State and his rookie year.
With the offseason addition of WR George Pickens, trust in QB1. He’s got a lot of firepower that will at least make this season fun. There is no game he can’t at least keep us in.
