Panthers Win Three Straight After Defeating Jets 13-6

In a gritty, low-scoring affair at MetLife Stadium, the Carolina Panthers edged out the New York Jets 13-6 to win yet another. They have won three straight and climbed to a 4-3 record. From the start, it was clear this wouldn’t be a shoot-out game.

The Panthers opened with a Ryan Fitzgerald 30-yard field goal early, and even when the Jets answered with one of their own, the Panthers then punched in the game’s only touchdown late in the second quarter when quarterback Bryce Young found Xavier Legette from three yards out.

This game was a defensive dogfight, through and through. Though New York’s offense has struggled this season, its defense has kept them in games to the very end, which enabled Carolina to score only one touchdown. The defense rose to the occasion as cornerback Jaycee Horn picked off two passes, and the Jets were limited to just 220 total yards of offense.

Bryce Young managed the game well with an 88.4 QBR, passing for 138 yards with a TD. Unfortunately, Young would exit the game in the third quarter after a sack that left him with an ankle injury, handing off the keys to the offense for veteran Andy Dalton, who held down the fort and orchestrated a key 33-yard connection to Legette to help close out the win.

This win is another sign of progress for Carolina head coach Dave Canales. This is their first streak of three straight wins with Young as a starter since him being drafted in 2023. That said, the Panthers know this was an ugly win. Their offense looked flat, and they surrendered too many chances, yet the defense did its job, and the special teams chipped in. For now, they’re over .500 and heading into next week’s matchup against the Bills with some momentum.
