Colts 2025 Season Preview: QB Uncertainty, New Players, Win Predictions

With the 2025 season rapidly approaching, the Indianapolis Colts, as well as their fans, are keeping their heads held high. After their 8-9 finish last season, the Colts enter the upcoming season with an over/under prediction of 7.5 wins, as well as a larger goal of finally putting an end to their 4-year playoff drought.

The biggest headline we saw from the Colts’ preseason revolves around the quarterback position. Ultimately, veteran Daniel Jones has been named the starter for Week 1, taking the place of Anthony Richardson. While Jones starts Week 1, this decision is not permanent, and Richardson is still in the running for starting as the season progresses. On top of that, the Colts recently welcomed rookie Riley Leonard, putting him as QB3. Leonard impressed coaches and fans during the preseason with multiple scoring drives, including a touchdown with a 59-yard pass to wide receiver Laquon Treadwell.

While the Colts may be facing uncertainty with their quarterback, that’s not the case when it comes to their offense. With running back Jonathan Taylor (one of the most elite running backs in the NFL), tight end Tyler Warren, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., and the rest of the offensive team, these players are sure to provide the QBs with enough support to last throughout the season.

As for defense, the Colts have made significant investments to strengthen their unit. Lou Anarumo, taking over as coordinator, added Charvarius Ward for cornerback and Camryn Bynum for safety to solidify their defense. Optimistic fans believe that the Colts stand a chance for a top 10 defense if everything goes according to plan. Unfortunately, that does not account for all fans; having said that, ESPN has ranked the Colts at 27th place in future power rankings.

So, what can we expect from the Indianapolis Colts in the 2025 season? Well, based on last year’s record, preseason performance, and adding in the uncertainties regarding the quarterback, we can hope for around 7-8 wins. Some fans argue that the Colts will only see as low as four wins, while others say 7-8 wins is too low. But, no matter how you predict the season, we can all agree that the main priority is progression. For Colts fans, progress and QB clarity are more important than a win!
