Cowboys Win Week 2 OT Thriller vs. Giants
First of all, what a game! Dallas came into the game missing starting cornerback DaRon Bland, who was dealing with a foot injury. The Giants used that to their advantage, throwing the ball all over the yard against a very thin secondary. Russell Wilson ended the game with 450 passing yards, throwing several deep balls against DC Matt Eberflus’s zone-heavy scheme.
Dallas also lost center Cooper Beebe and wide receiver KaVontae Turpin to injuries during the game, which really sucked considering our offense is all we’ve got. Dak Prescott had to throw 52 passes to keep us in this shootout. He ended up throwing touchdowns to new addition receiver George Pickens and Turpin before he left the game.
In the fourth quarter, New York and Dallas scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, and Brandon Aubrey's 64-yard field goal sent the game to overtime. Both teams had two possessions in an overtime period that lasted the entire ten minutes, again ending in a clutch snipe from Aubrey.
At the 2-minute warning in OT, Russell Wilson and Malik Nabers had a miscommunication in which he led Nabers on what he must have thought was a post route when Nabers ran a corner. Donovan Wilson made a huge interception on the play. Then, with only seconds to go, on the edge of field goal range, Dak Prescott almost got sacked but escaped right up the gut to save the win.
Only 30 minutes after the game, the Cowboys signed Veteran defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney is a solid run defender who can play the role DeMarcus Lawrence played for so long.
Dallas must get healthy and let Dak put the team on his back. He can carry us to at least a few more good wins playing at this high a level; realistically, only one interception on 52 passes is pretty clean, especially for such an aggressive quarterback. Keep running Javonte Williams, who looks GREAT so far, and pray for the defense.
1-1! Go Cowboys!
