Cowboys Week 5 Report: Big Win in New York

The stars were out on Sunday! The Cowboys went into the game missing CeeDee Lamb and four starting offensive linemen, which was no problem for MVP candidate Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Dallas won the game with a final score of 37-22, but the game wasn’t as close as that score will make you think.

The Cowboys handled business very well on both sides of the ball, surprisingly, since going into this game, our defense was the worst in the NFL by some metrics. The pass rush was fantastic today, especially by James Houston, who had 1.5 sacks on the day. The defense as a whole combined for a total of 5 sacks on the day, as well as a fumble recovered by Sam Williams in the second quarter.

Offensively, the Cowboys had a great day. RB Javonte Williams rushed for 135 yards and had two total touchdowns on the day, including a huge breakaway run for 66 yards that set up a Jake Ferguson touchdown before halftime.

Dak Prescott ended the game with four touchdowns for the second week in a row, including a 43-yarder to George Pickens. Pickens had a quiet day on paper, only catching two passes. However, he was matched up with Sauce Gardner, one of the best cornerbacks in the league.

Dallas also let two young skill position players see some serious time in WR Ryan Flournoy and RB Jaydon Blue. Flournoy hauled in six passes for 114 yards along with 10 rush yards on two carries. He really made a name for himself out there today after having very minimal playing time in the regular season up to this point. With George Pickens as the alpha receiver in the time CeeDee Lamb is out, Flournoy has lots of fans calling for his official WR3 placement on the team. You love to see it out of the young guy!

Rookie Jaydon Blue saw a few snaps, tallying seven yards on four carries. Not too shabby for his first regular-season game, especially when Williams has been so great recently. Blue had been a healthy scratch in every game up to this point, and while he didn’t play a whole lot, it was great to see him out there.

Dallas goes to Charlotte to take on the 2-3 Carolina Panthers this week, who just beat the Dolphins in a comeback win at home. Hopefully, we get some starting offensive linemen available for Sunday, or even CeeDee Lamb, who isn’t on IR. If the defense can keep this momentum rolling, I’ll be ecstatic.

Back to .500. Go Cowboys!
