Cowboy C Cooper Beebe to IR, out 6-8 weeks

During Sunday’s home win against the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys center Cooper Beebe suffered an ankle injury. He did not return to the game, watching the rest from the sideline. He was replaced by #67 Brock Hoffman. Today, Beebe was placed on the Injured Reserve list with a high ankle sprain, which has a current timetable of 6-8 weeks before he will play.

For context, Cooper Beebe was a third-round pick last season who played 90.61% of the snaps. He was regarded as one of the best rookies in the class as a very solid interior lineman, especially for a plug-and-play guy. Surprisingly, Beebe was drafted as a guard out of Kansas State, having extremely limited experience at center.

Vs. New York, backup C Brock Hoffman played alright. With 16 snaps at C and eight on Special Teams, Hoffman gave us a decent performance against a great defensive line. Across from arguably the best DT in the league, Hoffman didn’t allow a single sack or pressure on the afternoon. Between guards Tyler Booker and Tyler Smith, even the best fronts will struggle up the middle.

PFF graded Hoffman with a 63.6 Pass Blocking Grade and a 58.6 Run Blocking Grade. This would place him ranked 21st and 34th among centers, respectively, factoring in the whole season. A bit extreme considering he didn’t allow any counting stats for the Giants D-lineman.

The Cowboys also signed Wesley French, a veteran center the Colts cut before the 53-man roster deadline. French was an undrafted prospect out of Western Michigan in 2022. French was active for the entire 2023 season, in which he started three games, but had Ankle surgery during camp for 2024, missing the whole season. He’s only signed to the practice squad now, but he could get called up at a moment’s notice.
