Jets Drop to 0–7 After 13–6 Loss to Panthers: Same Mistakes, Same Misery

I’m honestly running out of ways to describe this team. The Jets dropped to 0–7 after losing 13–6 to the Carolina Panthers, and it was the same old story: a defense doing everything possible to keep us in the game, and an offense that couldn’t find the end zone if it came with GPS directions.

The Panthers weren’t world-beaters coming in — they were just a team that executed better, played smarter, and looked like they wanted it more. That’s the hardest part to swallow.

Fields, Then Taylor — Still No Answers

Justin Fields got the start and, once again, looked completely out of sync. He went 6 of 12 for 46 yards and was sacked three times before being pulled midway through the third quarter. I’m not saying the offensive line helped much, but Fields looked lost — slow reads, bad footwork, zero rhythm.

Then came Tyrod Taylor, and for a moment, you hoped maybe he’d inject some life into the offense. But no. Taylor went 10 of 22 for 126 yards, also took three sacks, and threw two back-breaking interceptions to Jaycee Horn. The second one, with just under five minutes left, basically sealed it.

And let’s not forget that trick play — a perfectly drawn-up double reverse that should’ve been a 40-yard touchdown. Hall flipped it to rookie Arian Smith, who tossed it back to Taylor. Allen Lazard was wide open. Then linebacker Trevin Wallace swooped in and broke it up. It’s like the football gods are mocking us at this point.

Defense Did Everything It Could

The defense deserves better. They held Carolina to just 13 points and limited them to 5-of-17 on third down. Sauce Gardner, Quincy Williams, and Jermaine Johnson all made plays, keeping Bryce Young and later Andy Dalton from breaking the game open.

But even the best defense can only hold up for so long when the offense is putting up field goals and turnovers. The one Panthers touchdown — a short pass from Young to rookie Xavier Legette — came after another Jets drive stalled near midfield.

Nick Folk hit both of his field goals (34 and 47 yards), accounting for every single one of our points. That sentence alone sums up the Jets’ season so far.

This Team Has No Direction

What’s the plan? Because right now, it feels like there isn’t one. Are we developing Fields, or just surviving week to week? Is Aaron Glenn coaching to win, or coaching not to lose? Switching quarterbacks mid-season screams desperation, not strategy.

After the game, Glenn said, “We’ll make the right decision at quarterback.” At this point, that feels like a line we’ve heard before — and it hasn’t led to a win yet.

Bottom Line

I wish there was something new to say. But the Jets once again wasted a solid defensive effort with sloppy execution, poor quarterback play, and a lack of creativity on offense. The players look frustrated. The fans are exhausted.

Losing to Carolina — a beatable team — just adds to the sting. You can talk about effort, heart, or fight all you want, but until someone actually finishes a drive and gets into the end zone, it’s all noise.

Final Score: Panthers 13, Jets 6.

Different opponent. Same heartbreak. Same Jets.
