Jets Open Preseason with 30–10 Win in Green Bay

New York Jets defeat Green Bay Packers - 2025 Preseason Week 1

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Jets couldn’t have asked for a better start to the preseason. They rolled into Lambeau Field and walked out with a 30–10 win over the Packers, showing flashes of the speed, toughness, and depth we’ve been talking about since camp.

If you read our Week 1 Preseason preview, you’ll remember we wanted to see how Justin Fields would settle in. Well, it didn’t take long to get an answer.

Fields Wastes No Time

On the opening drive, Fields went 3-for-4 through the air for 42 yards, then took off on a 13-yard touchdown run to finish a 10-play march. He only played the one series, but he left the kind of impression that makes you want to see more next week.

Defense Turns Up the Heat

The defense didn’t just hold the line—they tilted the game early. Leonard Taylor’s strip-sack of Malik Willis was scooped up in the end zone by Jay Tufele for a defensive touchdown. Four sacks and two first-half takeaways later, the Jets were in complete control.

Special Teams Gets in on It

Special teams made their mark when rookie Ja’Markis Weston pounced on a muffed punt deep in Packers territory. That set up another Jets score, and by halftime, Green Bay was chasing the game.

Depth Stands Out

Once the starters checked out, the backups kept the pressure on. Brady Cook and Adrian Martinez combined for over 190 passing yards, with Martinez connecting with Stone Smartt for a touchdown. Rookie Donovan Edwards led all rushers with 42 yards, showing nice burst between the tackles.

What It Means

It’s only preseason, but the Jets showed something here—three phases clicking, rookies stepping into big moments, and a quarterback who looks ready to lead. That’s precisely the kind of opener you want heading into Week 2.
