Armand Membou Emerging as Jets’ Breakout Rookie on the O-Line

The New York Jets came into the 2025 season with major questions along the offensive line. Through two preseason games and a month of training camp, rookie right tackle Armand Membou is starting to look like one of the answers.

The Jets' first-round pick out of Missouri has quietly become one of the most consistent performers on the offensive front. In the preseason opener against the Packers, Membou allowed zero pressures on ten pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, and finished with a pass-blocking grade of 77.9. It was a clean debut—exactly what you want to see from a rookie tackle.

“He’s mature beyond his years,” said Jets head coach Aaron Glenn last week. “The moment doesn’t seem too big for him, and that’s not something you can coach. He just gets it.”

Training camp hasn’t been easy. Membou’s had to battle every day against a loaded Jets defensive line that includes Jermaine Johnson, Quinnen Williams, and Will McDonald IV. He’s lost reps—McDonald reportedly notched a pair of sacks against him during a no-pads session—but he’s bounced back with a steady, even-keeled approach.

“Sometimes I’ll be going against [McDonald] and I’ll just be thinking, ‘How did he do that?’” Membou told ESPN. “But those are the reps that make you better. I know I have a lot to learn.”

Coaches have praised not only his technique but also his attitude. Offensive line coach Keith Carter highlighted Membou’s ability to take coaching and apply adjustments on the fly—something that’s helped him earn extra reps with the first-team offense.

With the Jets sitting most of their starters in the preseason finale against the Eagles, Membou is expected to see extended action. It’ll be another chance for the rookie to lock in his spot before the Week 1 depth chart is finalized.

The Jets don’t just need depth on the offensive line—they need stability. And if Membou keeps trending the way he is, he might give them both.
