An Open Letter to Jonathan Taylor: Questions Heading into Week 6

Dear Jonathan Taylor,

After watching the Colts on an incredible run these past five weeks, it is easy to see that you continue to be the emotional heartbeat of this team. Your impact goes further than your rushing totals or impressive highlights; it is seen woven between the details. You bring composure to the team in the most needed moments and fight hard for extra yards.

Most impressive is the way you remain consistent. In the season so far, we have seen moments of brilliance and guidance from the quarterback while leading the offense. Through it all, the resilience you and the team have shown is a testament to your own journey, as you have overcome setbacks and led by example on and off the field.

Watching your evolution as a player has been truly inspiring, and as you prepare for week 6 against the Cardinals, I wanted to ask a few questions that go deeper than the stats. I am eager to learn more about your leadership qualities that drive you, your motivation that keeps you pushing forward, and the mindset required to attain success.

Questions

What part of your game mindset has developed the most since you entered the league?

The Colts’ offense has found its rhythm this season. What has been the most rewarding part of seeing and experiencing this growth?

Reflection: I started with these two questions because they are positive and acknowledge the team's overall growth. They open the door for reflection and insight on what he has learned and how certain experiences shaped him.

Obviously, your work ethic has to be extremely strong, given all that goes into this career, both physically and mentally. What does a perfect week of preparation look like for you?

How do you build trust and communication with your offensive line during a long season?

Reflection: I asked these questions to shed light on the behind-the-scenes process involved in preparing for the games, as well as the teamwork required to achieve success. These questions invite answers that give more insight into what we don’t see leading up to games.

You have faced your fair share of challenges, including injuries and high-pressure moments. How have those experiences helped you evolve into the player you are today?

How does your mindset change after a rough game? Do you have resources that help you reset mentally?

Reflection: Mental health is something everyone should prioritize, even though it is not widely taught or talked about, especially in the world of men’s sports. These questions help us understand the mental load of it all, inviting vulnerability and authenticity.

As one of the respected team leaders, do you have any rituals to help motivate the locker room during periods of difficulty? Do you feel pressure to stay strong for your teammates?

What message do you want to share with Colts fans about the team's overall mindset, goals, and identity moving forward?

Reflection: These final questions are the most substantial because they focus on leadership and vision. They give you space to discuss the culture within the locker room, how morale is kept high, how leadership is shown, and what you want fans to understand about the team’s direction. They close on an optimistic note, reinforcing the idea that this team is not just rebuilding, but growing stronger through shared resilience.

Closing Thoughts

It goes without saying that your influence on this team is felt every week, not only through your performance, but in the steadiness and drive you bring to the entire organization. You lead by example, and it is evident in how your teammates respond to you. That influence extends far beyond the field; it shows your preparation, your attitude, and the quiet confidence that helps define the Colts’ identity.

You have become more than just a key playmaker; you have become a tone-setter for how this team approaches every snap and every challenge. As the Colts continue to build momentum heading into Week 6, your impact can be seen in the way the team carries itself: disciplined, determined, and confident in its ability to compete with anyone.

Your journey, marked by resilience and steady growth, reflects not only your own professionalism but also the values this franchise has always stood for. Fans see more than a running back breaking a tackle; they see a leader who sets the standard for consistency, grit, and purpose. It is that example that continues to inspire both the locker room and the city that stands behind you.
